War of 1812 Bicentennial
In 2012 we will be commemorating the War of 1812 to remember those involved, their sacrifices, activities and conditions of the times, and events that took place. Over several years you will see events unfold as they did 200 years ago. There will be commemorative ceremonies, re-created battles, lectures, videos, interpretation activities, music, and much more. Each will provide you with greater insight into the people, lives, and times of that period.
Planning for reenacting and commemorative events started a few years ago. Interested re-enactors representing all re-enactors of the 1812 period in Canada and the United States along with historical site representatives, community representatives, and government representatives started to come together and plan the celebration of our heritage. 2012 will see the results of preparations for the first of these events.

The following are Bicentennial events in Canada and the United States commemorating activities associated with the War of 1812 - 1814. Members of the Canadian Fencibles will be present at some of these. A Signature Event is one which is directly related to a place and time during the War of 1812 - 1814 and has significant organization and backing to be a premier event. Signature events are clearly identified below. The 2012 St. Lawrence Region Signature Event at the end of June in Kingston and Bath is hosted by the Canadian Fencibles. We invite you to join us at this event to discover your Canadian history and have a glimpse of what life was like at the time. Come and speak with reenactors. Events that span into the next month are listed in both months.
