The Canadian Regiment of Fencible Infantry
The recreated Canadian Fencibles started in 1986 with a meeting of a group of interested hobbyists, some of whom were already portraying a crown regiment from the American Revolutionary War period.
A Brief History
The origins of the regiment start in 1803 with recruiting in the Scottish Highlands. With limited success, the officers and NCOs were transferred to Canada to continue recruiting and raising the regiment.

History - 2005 Annual General Meeting and Dinner

Camping out and fighting battles isn’t all we do. We also speak with visitors at event and historical sites, school classes, and other groups to teach them about life in the early 19th century. And at year end, around the dates of the battles of the Chateauguay (October 26, 1812) and battle of Crysler’s Farm (November 11, 1813), we hold our annual meeting and dinner. There we review the year just closing, discuss new recruits and whether they have equipment needs, review sources of supply, plan for the coming year, and select events we will attend as out all-up and those at which we will have representation.

The 2005 Annual Meeting & Dinner
Adolphustown, ON
For the years 2004 and 2005 we were very fortunate to be able to use the old town hall that is part of the UEL Heritage Centre in Adolphustown. The hall was decorated and tables set in period style and accommodated members, family, and guests who were in uniform or costume. Traditions of the regiment and military were followed. Haggis was presented, addressed, and served. Grace was spoken and the meal served. We enjoyed pot luck meals and have been very fortunate with a good variety and selection of food. It is truly a fine social time when we relax and enjoy a friendly time with those present.

In subsequent years we have held our annual meeting and dinner at different locations. We continue to strive for a period dinner whether we are in a contemporary or historic venue.
